Default Laptop memory upgrade question

I have a Dell 600m I purchased in 2004 with 512k memory, and I would like to upgrade this. I don't really know (and have been unable to find out) whether I have two memory slots or one. I also don't know the exact specs of my current memory.

I found this on the Dell Web site, but am assuming I can get a better upgrade for cheaper. Is there an equivalent on a site like newegg? I want the best performance from my computer, but don't want to spend much more than the Dell price if possible.

I'm also very competent with computers given a sample of the general population, but am a novice compared to most on this forum.

All help is much appreciated.

Trey

The memory for your laptop is located where the battery is at at the bottom of your laptop

it has two slots with a maximum of 2*1gb memory sticks

I had a similar comp and I bought my memory from a seller on eBay

Cool, thanks. I think I'll go with a 1gb upgrade for now. Is installing it pretty self explanatory?

simply unscrew the casing with a non-magnetic screwdriver and plug in. Very easy.

go to crucial.com and run a system scan. It will tell you exactly what memory you have and what you can upgrade to.
