Re: Is poker a profession?
Anything is a profession if it supplies you with a sustainable income. Prostitution, drug dealing, law, etc are all professions. Some legit others not. Card playing is definately a profession.

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] mastery of specialized knowledge [/ QUOTE ] Poker is in no way related to how the stock market works other than you can use math for certain aspects of both. Winners at the stock market do not rely on others making mistakes in fact they hope that everyone including themselves win. If I buy Microsoft it is not necessary for someone buying Sun Microsystems to lose money for me to gain money. [/ QUOTE ] Trading derivatives like options and futures is a zero sum game, with added transaction costs. |

THis is so depressing.... seriosusly though who cares what you call it profession is just a word [/ QUOTE ] This thread wasn`t started for you. It was started for those that do care about what they do. I do not mean that in a disrespectful manner. I do believe in "to each his own." By the same token those that do care about what they do should not be looked down upon because they care. A lot of responders here seem to think that if everyone doesn`t agree with their stance on things that they are somehow stupid or dumb or an idiot. pokervintage |
