Default Theoreticaly If you were in a casino with 1000$ how would you play it

I was having a discussion with my friend the other day on the situation, if you had 1000$ which held no value to you meaning it was just play money if you lost it wouldnt hurt your bills or anything. How would you most efficiently play it in a casino to try to double it "safely". Meaning not putting it on a 48% 1 to 1 bet or something but maybe chipping away slowly and trying to build it up. Is this possible? Of course theres always the risk of ruin which game would you choose?

Poker is an option, and although it seems to be possibly the best option assuming youre a good player there is also bad beats and occasional bad reads to account for. But basicly what would offer the most play for the least risk, it wouldnt be much fun just making a few bets and being done

Well, you specified casino so it's a given that you will be dealing with some form of rake, odds shortage or the like. To really expect to double your money you have to get to the "other side of the table" in other words where you have the best of it.

Having said that I'm told the very best black jack players can create a small edge. I know many people create an edge for themselves in poker by being enough better than the other players to cover the rake. In short play a game against other players in which you have a skill edge. Don't play games that are strictly random chance and feature a "cost" or drag. You can manage your bets and bankroll at games like craps, etc because well chosen bets on the layout have a low house percentage. But you will still pay the house over time. Sports betting is not my thing but I can see where highly skilled experts might be able to do well at it. But I expect half educated "weekend" players probably get killed by the vig.

I play poker. With a sufficient bankroll to cover the variance swings. I keep accurate/long term records so I don't kid myself about my relative skill level.

i actually have a good blackjack book , "Getting a Blackbelt in Blackjack" which shows some good counting methods. although the problem is not the counting but finding a favorable game. Casinos arent dumb, in atlantic city you NEED to count to make it even odds which is still inaccurate. the single deck games they cut the deck halfway and reshuffle every like 2-3 hands depending on how many play. also they cut the blackjack win to paying 6 to 5 instead of 3-2, plus theres no surrender in AC except on spanish 21.

normal blackjack is 8 deck shoes with like 65% penetration even using counting on that is not very likely to help.. my first love was blackjack before poker and i just found the swings too unpredictable and i had winning nights and losing nights but it seemed like you could never get a true edge

Provided it pays 3:2 on blackjack. Many of these single deck tables pay out 6:5 nowadays. Basically, they're saying, "go ahead and count, but we're gonna' charge you for it."

Well you said most efficient way to try to double it "safely". If you want to do it in BJ you're going to spend months learning to count and with a $1000 I'm not sure how "safe" it would be even with counting as it's pretty high variance even with the small edge players get by counting. I'd say the easiest way would be to grind it out in a small stakes hold em game. You could do a limited amount of study and buy into a 2/4 limit game and easily beat it (yes that includes beating the rake, the players are that bad) but it'll take you a long time. However, $1000 is 250 BB for that game so it'd be pretty safe that you wouldn't bust if you were even moderately successful. I don't play NL but I would think the same would apply for the smallest NL games.
