So i have TPTK on flop. I decided to check the turn to keep the pot in control en to let villain think i missed and give him a chance to bet with a weaker ace.

River makes SD complete for some hands.

Blockbet usefull here or just spew?

raise the turn... i dont like a check raise either. i am double barreling this turn most times.

If i were in his position, I'd just make a "value bet bluff" as its obvious, that you want a cheap showdown.

Honestly, I do not like blocking bets at all.


Btw. Next time bet the turn. You can still c/f the river if he bets the river, but on this board you have to fire away a second barrel as you are ahead most of the times. If he has a hand he going to raise you on the turn anyway. If he calls your turn bet you either c/f or c/c the river if he bets.

How much value do blocking bets have at this level anyhow? Is the average 10NL villain going to be aware of what's going on?

A lot, blocking bets have more value when the villain doesn't know what's going on. An accomplished poker player that understands you're making a blocking bet could take advantage of that and make a bluff raise, knowing you'll fold. Many 10NL villains will just call, happy that THEY only have to pay 2.20 for themselves to see a cheap showdown.

I'd bet turn, and c/c the river if he calls the turn.

I'm almost certain this is a weaker ace, so I would bet the turn expecting a flat call, then I would c/c the river.

I'm guessing this is pretty standard?

Also, the river only makes a strait for K10cc, since I don't see any other K10 hand calling on the flop. It's always possible he hit runner runner expecting to float, but that's just gross.

I definitely don't check the turn, you need to fire again. He'll call with weaker aces all day.

As for blocking bets working at this level, yes they certainly do. The average 10NL villain is not going to know what's going on. To tell you the truth I've seen them flat call with hands that are obviously good enough to raise (top 2 on a dry board, etc). They just want to win the pot that's out there, they're not concerned about milking more out of you as they're trying to win pots, not money.

I actually don't like the size of your blocking bet... unless you normally valuebet for that size.

bet at least 1/2 a pot... otherwise it looks weak and is asking to be taken away.

with that guy's stats, I normally bet 3 streets for value and hope he doesn't hit 2 pair.
