I heard he is being staked by a certain poker player with a bankroll of over one million dollars.

[/ QUOTE ]

No... it couldn't be... not Andy Beal.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sirs,

I have it on good authority that Andy Beal is not a poker player.

I'd love for Chip to write an autobiography before he passes. Would be a great read. In Gambling Wizards he talks about the guy who was busto, made 30 million at the horseshoe in 2 months, then went broke shortly after. I believe his name was Archie Karas ? Anyone know more about this guy ?

[/ QUOTE ]

I've played with him in LA. Archie Karas is an interesting story if you don't know about it. Long story short:

He plays Bobby Baldwin pool, gets him stuck, they switch to poker, Archie gets hot, he gets hotter at the crap table. He stays hot at poker--no one could beat him.

At one time he had every $5000 chip at Binions. Everyone told him to buy a McDonald's franchise, buy this or invest in that. He did nothing.

No one could beat him at poker for a while, and he had Binion stuck a small fortune at craps, but he gave it all back.

Now he occasionally gets staked by those wishing to relive the dream.

Great story. Easy come, easy go I guess. I hope Binon's comped him a buffett at least.

I wonder, when he is in the middle of asking for backing, if he ever regrets not holding on to some of it?

Perhaps true, but he could very well be playing 15-30 the day after that. I've seen him do it many times.

The FACT IS that Chip has a wonderful family, a MULTIMILLION dollar bankroll and is most likely the Finest all Around (various games), Consistant Poker Player on earth OR that has EVER lived.

Simply the truth. He has (and has had) it virtually All. (I'm not certain he'd appreciate this post though...pretty private guy)

I am interested to hear specifics on busto. Chip is suppoed to be one of the best $$ managerers around and doyle claims chip is well diversified/invested away from poker to the point of him not playing as much as he used to.

Please post known facts on his busto status.
