Default WSEX security messure ...unbelievable

Changing the address requires to call them, they have NO secure website where you can update your account information.

Ok, I called and the person on the phone requires my password for updating my address.
I asked her to send an e-mail to my registered e-mail address and I will reply my new address per e-mail, she told me she can't do it this way, for updating my address I MUST give her my password over the phone.

WSEX folks this is the most ridiculous security messure from a Pokersite on the NET, giving a password over the phone.
It should scare anyone who has money in your site.

I ran into the same problem recently when I tried to cash out. I just had them send my check to my old address. I don't think I'm going to play there anymore anyway. I gave it a chance, but they're just never going to grow into anything significant. Combine that with the drop in rakeback, and that's a wrap for me.

You have to remember that passwords over the phone is very standard in the sportsbook industry and of course thats what they mostly do...

I have ran into this same situation in the past as well. I am unsure about Niediam's comment about this being the "norm" for sportsbooks, as I am only a casual sports bettor and therefore tend to place bets on sites where I already have my poker funds. I AM sure, though, that it would make a LOT of sense for WSEX to include a feature somewhere in the cashier area of their software that would allow a person to change their address information, etc. without having to speak in person to a representative. Great point.

It is unusual for any place to require a password over the phone, but I wouldn't be concerned since you were the one that contacted them...therefore you know that you are actually talking to a WPX rep. If, on the other hand, they called you and requested your password over the phone I would be very concerned.

I recently changed my address and cashed out a few days later without a problem. I'm kinda sick and tired of idiots trying to bash WPEX for things which are more than likely their own fault. I think that bad word of mouth is honestly the biggest problem with the site - the software is good, the rakeback is good, and my recent cashout by courier only took 4 days. Low traffic is the only real bad thing, but it's probably largely because of all the stupid people like this and then the other larger group of ignorant people who assume there has to be problems with it. I have a theory - that people who play at wpex and are losing players become embittered that they can't win even with the amazing rakeback, so they resent the site.

of course, this little rant is evidence of my own bitterness with the fact that a great money-maker for me doesn't have the traffic it should, but everything I say stands as true.

It's normal for sportsbooks to do this because the "old system" was phone betting. Obv now this is dying they should really replace it, but this is what you get for playing at a site that doesn't care.

In my experience, WPEX support is second best in the industry after Stars. Which is to say, the only other site besides Stars that actually has pretty good support.

Today I talked with a supervisor and she was able to assist me and updated my account without submitting my password over the phone (She asked a few question which only the account holder could know).

WSEX, please join the new century and have a secure website up in the near future, submitting a password over the phone is like old bookies in the 70s.

btw. yes their support is friendly and helpfull, but things changed in the digital computerage.
