Re: NEW Thailand thread

[ QUOTE ] I still haven't booked my ticket for Christmas. Basically I need to get from BKK to New England (any of the three major airports would work). Any suggestions on airlines/routes to do this cheaply? Can you get flights directly to the east coast? [/ QUOTE ] You can have cheap or you can have direct. Thai Airways runs one direct flight to JFK per day. 17 hours, $1,300. If you don't mind having 10-12 hours added to your trip, you could probably save a few hundred. I've never bothered to check into it. I've been told there's dirt cheap Peter Pan bus that runs from NYC to Boston with a stop in Hartford thrown in. Pretty sure it doesn't leave from the airport. Or you can take the Connecticut Limo from JFK to New Haven for $65. [/ QUOTE ] I'm just going for cheap but the direct flight is tempting. I'm doing a bit of searching now and that might only be marginally more expensive, especially with the holidays. Even if I can get a dirt cheap flight to LA, I still have to get to the east coast. |

Those interested in Staying/moving to PHuket, feel free to drop me a PM with specific questions. PS The house Link meteron posted is a very decent looking spot BUT it is in a not so nice part of Phuket town. |

[ QUOTE ] Yo all! I'm just back from a funfilled week's stay in Patong hospital [/ QUOTE ] trip report [/ QUOTE ] Acute Hepatits B. Felt like crp for 3 weeks then turned yellow. Went to doc who did a blood test and said WHOA BUDDY! You go hospital! Apparently my liver was on verge of quitting. After week of very professional care, liver levels are returning to safe (though still abnormal levels). I'tll prob take anywhee fro 2weeks to 2 monts to kick it completely including NO alcohol and minimal fats diet. Also, fun to look like a yellow M&M for a week. Not sure of transmission method yet (dont use needles, wear condoms etc). Overall, not a fun catch. Deffo reccomend a full Hepatits vaccination for all travelling to Thailand. I had been vaxed multiple times whilst in the military but apparently it was too long ago (3.5 yrs) so deffo hook yerself up with a booster. Variance: Watched a lot of cricket and Thai dubbed movies whilst in hospital. |

wow, sorry to hear that
Getting Hep B while being vaccinated against it and not having risky behavior is a serious case of bad luck... |
