quids,

For just layout and spacing stuff, I've used Visio in the past to do office layouts.

However, that's just a diagramming tool. And I think a pretty pricey one too.

I know designers have software where you actually get to visualize the space and do mockups, not sure what they use, though.

Yes, I want visual, I use visio too keep track of my clients networks and stuff, but I want something like photoshop??? for interior designers. I saw a sweet Jack Daniels commercial during the Sopranos on A&E, and I want to be able to draft some ideas out, before I forget about them. Right now Im using a pencil and a friggen highlighter.

Has anyone used Googles Sketchup Pro?

Ikea actually has a really nice free one. It's designed to lay out your Ikea furniture but obviously you can just pick Ikea products that match the size of your own.

haha, i used google sketchup to model my room, for IKEA furniture! didn't know IKEA already had something.

i've used multiple 3D CAD programs in my previous life, so I downloaded and created this model in about 45 minutes.
