Re: OT: Official POG Baseball Postseason thread
from the garod thread in the sports forum
[ QUOTE ] facts: since the Dave Roberts steal, A-Rod is 4-47 with 2R and 0RBI in the playoffs. since joining the Yankees, he's 0-13 in games where his team faces elimination, and very few of them have gotten out of the infield opinions: does that mean anything? maybe. maybe not [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: OT: Official POG Baseball Postseason thread
and yes that thread shows jeter had similiar slumps in the playoffs .. so yeah maybe im overemphasizing his postseason downfall
this all started cause i said if he goes 0-5 and leaves 6 runners on and the yankees lose game 3, their fans will boo him out of town. and part of me doesnt blame them. and part of me does think it is variance, cause he is the best hitter in the game today in the regular season. but 4-47 .. at 25 mil a year ... guess it could be variance and coincidence. but i would rather have jeter up there. probably rather have matsui up there too. maybe even damon weird and crazy stuff |

Re: OT: Official POG Baseball Postseason thread
A-Rod, no doubt about it. (mostly cuz the guy walks).
Fmxda's posts are fairly damn good. And yeah, the mets kind of imploded down the stretch. Dunno what you can do about that. Be kind of interesting to see what the PECOTA numbers were for the mets staff going in. Mets, A-Rod's walked at least 8 times in that 4-47 stretch. Not that his numbers are going to be good or anything, but use some OBP and SLG numbers. |

Re: OT: Official POG Baseball Postseason thread
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] obviously just removing Glavine and replacing him with a league average starter would help a lot. [/ QUOTE ] I'm pretty sure this isn't true or fair - Glavine's stat line for the year was something like 13-8, 200 innings, 4.45/1.41 ERA/WHIP This is basically the definition of a league average starter [/ QUOTE ] I guess that's a decent stat line even in the NL. Why didn't Glavine pick up his option? It seems hard to believe he'd get paid more with his rapid decline imminent |

Re: OT: Official POG Baseball Postseason thread
I'd rather have two good pitchers for the price of one A-Rod.
