Default You aren\'t the only one who knows your Fortune Poker password

I thought some of you might find this conversation I had with Fortune Poker interesting.

I had a messenger window popping up and it made me mistype my password 5-6 times (woops). Anyways, I guess they lock your account for 24 hours. Didn't have 24 hours to not gamble so I called them.

I told the lady that I needed the lock taken off my account. She asked me for my player ID, name, address, and birthday.

To my surprise, she reads my password off the screen to me (I didn't even ask for it).

Thats pretty crazy that Fortune leaves your password exposed for any employee to see it and that they trade it for some pretty basic information.

I asked a few questions about what kind of protection they offer players if their accounts get hacked and she actually said this:

"Sir, that has never happened before".

I'm sure thats true... Anyway, I asked again, and she replied:

"Well how would you do it?"

I told her I would do it the same way every other major poker site does it... she didn't like my answer and told me she was hanging up on me. (then she hung up)

Any thoughts?

Full Contact Poker, back in the day, made you reset your password the same way... by typing it into chat with a live help associate. Why am I giving my password to an $8 an hour employee again?

I changed my password and cashed out.

The security at some of these places is kind of ridiculous. I signed up for NoIQ poker recently and they sent my username AND password in plain text to my email account. Thanks NOiQ, if that's your idea of security I won't be depositing any money there.

i wouldnt play there. this sounds like a train wreck waiting to happen. i dont know what network fortune belongs to but im sure they are a small skin. find a large respectable site and play there.

edit: after reading neko's post, i will say something ive thought for a long time and that is why do people play at these small no-name sites? is the bonus chasing worth the risk of getting hacked or not being able to cash out? are your funds secure?

IMHO $8 is on higher side. $2-$4 is more likely

Pacific Poker also sends it in plain text by email last I checked.

Fortune Poker = Fortune Lounge, stay away!

They recently banned "casino bonus abusers" and locked all poker accounts as well including balances. In the end poker accounts were re-opened, but casino accounts not. Not very good way to make business.

Fortune Poker has nothing to do with Fortune Lounge. It's a Boss Media skin using Webdollar with a licence from Malta, whereas the Fortune Lounge casino group has its licence from Kahnawake and uses Microgaming software.

Not to say the latter aren't a bunch of douchebags, of course.
