Official 2007 NHL Offseason Thread
The playoffs are over - not the league's best playoffs, but not every year can be 1994.
This offseason doesn't figure to be a bonanza, but there are several good centers available in free agency. The salary cap is supposed to be increasing from anywhere between 48 and 52 million - this means a lot of teams are going to be signing a lot of guys for too much money. Here's a list of free agents (not a rickroll, even though I wanted to): 2007 NHL Free Agents |

Actually, I guess Hasek is available again too, but Giguere is the best long term goalie available. I think the dropoff after those two goes to David Aebishcer. |

Am I the only Ranger fan who is praying they don't resign Nylander?

Am I the only Ranger fan who is praying they don't resign Nylander? [/ QUOTE ] What??? Explain. All we need to do is get him a hypnotist to tell him to shoot at least 5 times a game. |

Re: Official 2007 NHL Offseason Thread
Giguere is definitely the best goalie on the market, but that's not saying much. Unless Anaheim resigns him, he's going to go to a market with a significantly worse defense. Without Pronger and Neidermayer his performance will definitely drop off.

Seriously, he's done great with crap defense and he's done great with great defense. Of course he'd be stupid to go to a team with complete garbage D, but any halfway decent D is all he needs. |

Am I the only Ranger fan who is praying they don't resign Nylander? [/ QUOTE ] Nylander looking for $5 mil a year "...Nylander fired agent Paul Theofanous and is seeking a considerable raise, the New York Post reports... Nylander fired Theofanous after learning the agent had reached a three-year deal with the Rangers worth $3.75 million a year. Theofanous apparently did so without the approval of Nylander. This is bad news for the Rangers, as Nylander is looking for a contract closer to $5 million per year. Despite his age (35), he may be able to find such a contract elsewhere after recording 162 points in the past two seasons." If the Rangers can keep him for less then $4 mil a year it would be a great deal... $5 mil a year is too much. |

He would break his career highs with the Rangers, just as Nylander has. Edit: What is the point of signing Nylander for 3 years, if this might be Jagr's last? |
