That blows. The room is in the perfect location right now. The very, very slight bother caused by railbirds is more than offset by the skank parade late night on the way to the parking garage.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, that parade at night does provide some nice eye-candy w/o the cost of a club. One of the benefits of Wynn's room is that it's so damn close to the parking garage, unlike Venetian's room. I like the idea of having one main room though, you have to wonder if Venetian / Palazzo will keep it at one room.

[/ QUOTE ]

I would hope so. That one room is wheezing as it is.

On several occasions I have overheard random people approach the sign up board at the wynn asking what no limit games they can play and obviously do not have much if any experience with live poker. When asked what stakes they want to play they often say whatever opens up first. at the time, that included everything from 1/3 to 10/20 and the guy ended up in the 10/20 game. Clearly these type of people probably decide on a whim they want to play poker and money doesn't really matter and those are people you want in the game that might not otherwise be there if the poker room is in a secluded location.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's just stupid. I think most people say "gee, I want to play poker" and go look at the casino map to find the poker room. I highly doubt you'll loose walkup traffic in fact I think you'll increase it since it'll be inbetween both resorts.

Moving the room farther from the parking lot is a big win. Less local nits.

Seriously, the one thing the wynn poker room needs right now is a well thought out redo, this sounds like the best possible thing that could have happened to wynn and i'm excited to possibly play there more often in the future

Well, the drunk idiot ratio at Caesars AC is off the chart....not coincidentally the poker room is right on the casino floor. Some of the "gamblers" only end up in the poker room because they bump into it. Without question location makes a difference at 1/2 - 2/5 NL.

The original plan (a few years ago) was to have a poker room at both locations. They also thought the current room would have taken all of the high limit action in town so a change of plans would seem likely.

[/ QUOTE ]

Your version of the origional plan makes no sense, why would they have 2 poker rooms?

The origional plan as per my meeting with Wynn VP of Marketing 2 years ago was to place the new poker room in the middle of the pit, in a pool like indentation on the floor so you can look down on the games, surrounded by table card games. I was told this in the first three months or so of operation at Wynn if I remember correctly, it was during the same meeting that I learned that Wynn was planning a third theater for Spamalot which was originally going to postpone Encore development to reallocate resources - but that was canceled since Avenue Q closed.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm pretty sure I would have a better understanding of what their original plans were.

Mike - Denise Randazzo, VP of Advertising and according to countless blogs when you google her the "official spokeswoman" of Wynn was formerly at Ian Shrager's Morgans Group, I first met her 6 or so years ago because I did a lot of business with Schrager. Denise brought me in for a long meeting to discuss the future plans of Wynn as well as business partnership ideas (my company was originally approached to operate a restaurant at Wynn) and we went into detail about the poker room plans as well. Its possible that the plans shared with you were not the vision that company spokeswoman was projecting, weren't you only there for 3 months before flying off? By the time I came in for a meeting I think you had stopped working there.

BUT if you take my experience and your experience and combine them together we can find a common thread. I was told there would be a new room because the original room was designed and planned before the poker boom - it was almost as if it was an afterthought, and by this time the Daniel partnership was already falling a bit flat on its face. Was the second room discussed as part of the Daniel deal to encourage additional high-limit business that he wanted to bring in but wasn't capable of providing? By the time I met with Denise I think it was clear a lot of the Daniel ideas had failed.

I was playing some 2/5 one time on a table next to the rail. A couple of ladies are watching the game... Folds to the BTN who raises, folds to the BB in seat 9 who is about to RR when one of the ladies... "OH! Look he has aces!".

This gives me a great idea next time I'm in Vegas with my fiancee (soon to be wife)!

I was told by a long-time in-the-know employee at Venetian that they are supposedly building an underground parking garage with the Palazzo that will allow people to enter the V from the area past the sportsbook (where the Players Card signup area is). No new 2nd room, they've dumped too much money into the current one.

As for the new Wynn/Encore room, the rumor TT mentions, with it originally planned to be in the middle of the pit, is the rumor that's been "going around town" for awhile.

I can't see the positives in sticking the poker room by itself, literally, on an island, with high-limit slots in the middle of a "lake" that'll require bridges to reach it.

It really depends on how large this lake is supposed to be... if you consider the space needed for both a poker room and a high-limit slot parlor, plus some room to maneuver... unless the water surrounding the "island" is going to look more like a moat surrounding a poker room/high-limit slots castle, this new poker room is going to be in the middle of nothing, with hardly any walk-by business except for gawkers on the outskirts of the pond wondering in.

Yeah, Palazzo will have underground parking right below the hotel itself leading directly into the casino, unlike the cluster f'up that is the venetians current parking setup.
