Hot Russian MySpace girl tries to scam me. (Very long with pics!)

So I was sitting at my computer one day last week and checked my email to see that I got a message from “Vera” on MySpace. At first I figured it was probably one of those things where it is a hot chick with no friends and she wants you to check out a website. However, it turned out that Vera is a very attractive Russian girl and she didn’t have any links in her message. It basically just said along the lines of: Hey William, how’s it going? So I responded giving her a little info about myself. We talked a few more times on MySpace and she gave me her phone number.

I called her a couple times this week and talked to her about random stuff. None of our conversations were very long; maybe 10 minutes at most. She has a very thick Russian accent and it was hard to understand some things she said but basically she seemed down to Earth. She sent me a text message one day being like I have VIP passes to see Donald Trump in Baltimore this September and she asked me if I wanted to go. I responded enthusiastically because it sounded like a fun idea. Later she mentioned that it costs $150 and she needed my name and address before registering. So I gave her my address. She asked for my credit card number which I found pretty unusual. I said I would rather pay with cash. I’m not a complete idiot; I’m not going to give someone I haven’t met in person my credit card number and address. Paying in cash seemed like a better idea especially since I have a lot of poker money lying around.

Then on Tuesday or Wednesday she called me and asked me if I would like to hang out with her sister and brother in law on Saturday. Of course I said yes. She called me the next day and was like did we say we were going to meet up on Thursday. I was a little bit skeptical of this since we cleared mentioned Saturday. However, I thought because of her heavy accent we might have had some miscommunication. Anyways we agreed to meet at her place at 8.

So I took a shower and put on some nice clothes not really knowing what to expect. I assumed I would just hang out with her at her place but the whole thing seemed a little off to me. She never mentioned what we would be doing. I look up her address on Map-Quest and head over to what I thought was her place. The address is about 30 minutes from my house near Baltimore, MD. So I arrive at this place that sort of looks like a hotel but it is in a residential neighborhood so I figured they were just some nice condos.

I call her on the phone and she welcomes me. We greet with a hug and a kiss. After we go into the hotel lobby this is where things started getting fishy. I have a read that someone was bluffing me. It’s what we poker players call instinct.

She introduces to me like 3 or 4 people in the lobby. It was a mix of about 50/50 guys and girls. They were mostly about my age (early 20s). At first I just thought they were her friends but I wasn’t sure. Her sister is in on the phone in like a small conference room talking on the phone. I asked Vera if there were a lot of young people who lived here and she was like: ummm yeahh. I wasn’t sure if she just mis-understood me because of the language barrier.

Then she finally introduces me to her sister once she’s off the phone. Vera mentions something about her sister giving a presentation about her business and asks me if I want to stay for the presentation. I willingly agree as I am interested in business and related topics.

There’s now about 25 people in the room. Her sister gets upfront and starts this speech about how she is selling telecommunications products for a living. Then she plays this video which has Donald Trump in it. And it’s basically Trump endorsing this company called ACN which sells VoIP (Voice over IP) phones. At this point I’m thinking what the hell Vera brought me up here just for this real life infomercial.

So the basic business idea goes like this. You sell these cheap video phones and everybody who subscribes under you has a bill in which you get 10% of it. It is like CutCo knives if any of you know about that. Basically it’s about residual income and expanded your network of connections. Now Vera’s sister steps down and invites this guy (I think his name was Jeff) up to the front. This guy is like super hyper active and seems stupid in general. He keeps asking rhetorical questions like who wants to work for a corporation for the next 40 years. And obv everybody is like no way. The audience looked like a bunch of idiots by the way; I was probably the only one with an education there. So this guy rambles on for like 30 minutes and I’m starting to get annoying and pissed off. I considered leaving but thought that maybe Vera didn’t actually set me up and we would go hang out after.

Now the presentation is over. And I’m still sitting there with like 3 forms in front of me and they are trying to get me to sign up for this $500 package deal to join their company. Vera gives me a form asking me to sign up for that Donald Trump presentation for $150. I said some like: woah wait a minute; I didn’t know what you were talking about before. This is not how you explained it to me. Then I asked her repeatedly if she invited me out here just to get me to sign up for this thing. She said she didn’t understand what I was saying and asked me to rephrase it multiple times. I’m pretty sure she was BSing me.

Then the four people plus some other people who gave the presentation start going around the room talking to people individually. Every one of these people seems like they are hyped up on some drugs; describing them as overly enthusiastic would be an understatement. I start asking some tough questions like what did you company earn last quarter and they obv give me some BS. I asked if they are publicly traded and you can buy stock with them and the answer is no. The reps like all ask me what I do and I’m like I just graduated from Michigan, I’m a software engineer, and I play poker part time. I told them I think I can earn more my way then through their program.

Here is where the fun starts. This guy who is about my age with blonde hair slicked back and wearing a nice suit approaches me and starts talking. He tells me that he made $250,000 a year as a loan officer but quit doing this job. I asked him where I he went to school and he got defensive asked me where I went to school. I go University of Michigan. He says he want to blah blah high school and then this local community college. I said so you left a 250k a year job to sell telephones? He laughs it off and says no way do I want to work for a corporation just to have to crawl to the top! I said dude if you really were making 250k a year you are already at the top. Then I start quizzing him. I said what was your major and he said he dropped out of college. I said I don’t believe you made that much money because I don’t know anybody making 250k a year w/o a college education who doesn’t either own a business or play high stakes poker.

I asked him what the average employee earns and he says nobody is average here; all the average people left. I then ask okayyyyyy of the group of excellent employees what is their average salary. He’s like common man we don’t deal with numbers here.

We are now starting to get hostile towards each other. I keep saying I don’t believe him and he’s like I can go outside and show you my new 4-runner and Infiniti. So I say you drove 2 cars here? And I forget what his response was. He goes on and on how he owns 4 houses and has 150k in the bank. Meanwhile Vera is sitting beside me still. So I am getting up about to leave and he’s like have fun working for a corporation for the next 40 years. I go I like my job a lot. Then I say maybe you should lay off the speed and ecstasy man. I say if you are as rich are you say you are why do you have to take speed and give these corny presentations. He snickers to one of his friends: heh am I going to have to drop this kid. So I walk around the table and get in his face and I’m like dude I know Thai boxing and was the captain of my wrestling team. He like go ahead and hit me. So I fake punch him sort of slow just to see what he would. Then I’m F U man really loud and people start looking over. Vera’s sister tries to tell the guy to lay off. I keep repeating over and over keep doing speed and ecstasy every day. So I walk out and don’t say bye to Vera… I drive home pissed off. Pics and possibly more details to come soon.
