[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I'm curious if those mayo fries were eaten with fork or fingers. My guess is fingers but I think the fork is optimal. [/ QUOTE ] fork man, don't you see it? [/ QUOTE ] The cone seems unnecessary if you are going to use a fork. [/ QUOTE ] how does using a fork make the cone unnecessary. the cone's purpose is to keep the fries from falling onto the ground. [/ QUOTE ] What's hilarious is you already responded to this post, about 15 above this. A year ago. |

Re: What do you put on your french fries?
No polltarding?
At the steakhouse I used to wait tables at, they had a dynamite honey mustard sauce that I put on basically everything but the steak: fries, but also salads, burgers, the "Bloomin' Onion" knockoff, ice cream, etc. But assuming we're talking things readily available, then it's ranch dressing > sour cream > mayonnaise. Ketchup is un-American. |

I pretty much like any condiment on fries except ketchup (not really a fan, it's not awful but whatever), but usually prefer mayo or aioli if it's there. Malt vinegar is underrated and I should do that more often. I usually go with TJ's mayo if I'm at home, but have as of late been using the Japanese mayo instead, good stuff: -Al [/ QUOTE ] I always see these bottles but never tried them. Whats the difference between this and regular mayonnaise? |

hotsauce + malt vinegar + salt ftw [/ QUOTE ] kkcountry - this is a great combo. If I'm getting fish & chips, the whole dish gets this treatment. Tapatio is awesome - never really had it 'til moving to the West Coast, where it's pretty standard at Mexican places. szw - the Japanese mayo is made with rice vinegar instead of distilled vinegar. There are probably other slight differences but I don't know. The end result is the Japanese mayo (compared to stuff like TJ's or Hellman's) is slightly less "acidic" tasting and a bit creamier. Some people say it tastes slightly sweeter. If you ever go to an Izakaya place, the mayo is served on the side with fried chicken and other deep fried Japanese foods. So good. (For LA people, the fried chicken at Furaibo is ridiculous.) -Al |
