It's hard to give an opinion without knowing what the computer will be used for. Given that - dump mcafee and aol.

Why does gateway include "ebay desktop icon" in a product description. Be prepared for a computer pre-installed with a ton of bloatware/crapware.

I would upgrade to Vista Home Premium for sure (or XP if you don't want to mess with Vista)

Get a Core 2 Duo if you can afford it, it will improve performance.

Either upgrade to a DVD RW or get a Pioneer for $20 off of newegg (don't get the sata drive)

As is a pretty basic system.

go to 1GB of RAM and drop the video card, you can get a similar GT7600 with dual DVI-D on new egg for 100 and the RAM for about $40.

Then get a DX430S and it comes with a better processor and Vista Home Premium standard.

That card will run two monitors, I have one that drives a 24" at 1900x1200 and a 20" at 1600x1200
