[/ QUOTE ] The joke is that when he talks about the power of "kings and queens" we at first assume he is discussing royalty... but then it turns out he is really talking about starting in hands in the popular poker game Texas Hold Em! EDIT: Although maybe the brilliance of Konrad is that it is open to so many interpretations.

[/ QUOTE ] No. As the 15th century Benedictine monk Augustus Romanus states in his treatise, "Playing Pokyr for God," aces is the 'devilish' hand because it is so easy to go broke with them. Konrad openly makes a satanic reference and is then punished in the 4th panel.

To be honest I thought it was religious spam when I first read it. Like it was some kind of parable reminding all you punk kids to not let poker become bigger than God in your life.
