Default WSOPE day 2b report...(Nice Antonius hand, Hansen refused from Casino)

We went up to try and catch some of the main event and had a good time. Saw some good hands. Here is my ramblings from the day taken from my blog which some of you might find interesting!

-----

WSOPE
So 3 of us headed up to London to try and watch some of the WSOPE. We didnt really know what to expect, wether we would get in or if we should of bought tickets etc...

We got the tube to lecister square and as soon as we walked up the stairs i spotted Australian pro Mark Vos. We headed towards the casino and who was walking next to us, mr Devilfish himself! Would of asked for a picture but poor Dave was steamed up over a bad beat so we figured it was best to leave him alone!

When we got there we were greeted by security on the door who said nothing, we just walked to the desk and signed up like any other casino. We walked through the main entrance and there it was, 3 tables of the main event going on!! The first pros i spotted were Kenny Tran, Ian Frazer and a couple of others, but no big big names. We then went looking for other tables and stubled into the feature table room! The table had about 20 people (if that) watching and had Johhny Chan and Daniel Negreanu sat next to each other! We were so close we could see the action happening at the table, it was unreal. Saw one good hand with Daniel when a young scandinavian pro kept betting into him. The board read AKx x x and daniel called a pretty big bet on the river with KJ, nice read dan!

We then headed of to the Casinos main card room and found the three other tables going on. In here we spotted Tony G nursing a shortstack sat next to Isabelle Mercier looking sinister and 'the chosen one' Patrick Antonius with a big stack, sat next to Jimmy Fricke who finsihed second against Gus Hansen in the Aussie Millions.

Didnt really see much action in here to begin with. We then wondered round each section watching a few hands. Other pros spotted were Michael Binger and Marco Traniello just watching the action. Jamie Gold got moved to one of the middle tables but was pretty quiet, he does have the look of a guy who has been hated on. Saw Kenny tran involved in a pretty big pot where his opponent hit runner runner quad queens, although there were no over cards on the board. Kenny paid him off on the river aswell but didnt show. We came back to the feature room to wait for the players to return and one of the producers bought out the Bracelet to be put into the shot on the other side of the table, but not untill the nice chap let us have our pictures with it! Is that the closest i will get to a main event bracelet? probably.

Saw Tony G double up all in with pocket 8's against the AK of Dan Shak of HSP3 fame, hitting a set on the turn. Then came an interesting hand with Patrick Antonius. With the blinds 600/1200 Patrick raised from the CO to 4k and was called bu the BB. Flop came 2210 and the BB checked, Patrick bet 7k and the SB called. Turn was a 3 and the BB checked and after alot of thought Patrick checked. River was a J and the SB checked one more time. Patrick then fired out about 17k and the SB called after a long long time, Patrick showed J9o for a rivered top pair and the SB mucked his hand.

Just as we were leaving we noticed Gus Hansen freaking out at the Casino front desk, from what we made out they wouldnt let him in. i guess he didnt have a photo ID to join! He shouted some expleitives at us about the place and got on his phone to try and sort it.

Great night and the energy was amazing. Antonius is amazing to watch, he is so focused and you can see players generally scared to be in a hand with him. Tomorrow is day 3 so all the pros we missed from Day 2a will be there, definitly gonna be there for that!

A couple of crap quality photos from my phone, shows how closeup we were able to get though!

Can't remember his name but the tanned guy in the striped shirt with the long hair in the first pic is a big donk. Played with him in spain and then again in manchester, hit big in the manchester GUKPT, basically just a lucky donk.
