Default $2 min. rake at Seminole Hard Rock - Hollywood

I was playing the 1/2 NL at Seminole HR tonight and the first hand everyone folded to me on the button. I raised, the blinds folded and the dealer raked the pot $2. I received only $1 for my trouble. I was upset and complained to the floor "no flop, no drop" but they said its a new rule that all 1/2 NL pots are raked a minimum of $2 regardless of size.

That's incredible to me. Has anyone heard any casino anywhere doing this???

I usually play at Gulfstream and they don't rake the pot unless $9 or more has been called.

They must of talked to the Morongo Tribe just outside of Palm springs.

This is just a typical setup in California. Commerce, Bike and all drop $1.00 if their is no flop. Full drop after the flop. Use search for further details about Southern California Rake/drop.

Bad rake structures are standard in California, but I haven't heard of a rule like this outside CA.

They did away with it on the 1/2 NL game. They still have it on the 2/5 game and the 5/10 game.

Get ready... the poker industry is fed-up with NL becase the drops are too small so they are finding ways to assure a steady income on every down. Harrah's method was to increase the minimum in many of their rooms to $5 + $1 jackpot. Other rooms are converting small stakes NL games to time drops instead of rake. Sounds like Seminole is using California as a model to be coppied.

Within the next 4 years I project that NL pots everywhere (when legally allowed) will be smaller because of increased rake and/or time charges.
