Depends on how fast you can deal out hands and how long you'd like the tourneys to last.

You could start with 5000 chips, and double the blinds every 20 minutes:

25/50
50/100
100/200
200/400
400/800
800/1200

after a couple tourneys you can figure out if they're ending too fast or taking too long. Also: you don't like antes?

yours sounds pretty good, will give it a try 4sure.....we have tried a couple of different blinds, the most common blind structure we use is;

10,000 starting chips

100/200
200/400
400/800
800/1600
1600/3200 and so on

the problem is that with that structure, its hard too cash out the small 100 chips because the 100 chip is always in use.

basically we are looking for a structure that would last about 3 hours give or take...we don't use antes because its time consuming and the noobs have too be constantly reminded!

thanx again gonso

DIYPokerTour.com has a really good page on this at http://www.diypokertour.com/pokertou...&tabid=120 it gives you a couple of variations on chip structure.

Play with a more gradual increase in blinds, like this for a T10,000 starting stack:

100-200
200-400
300-600
400-800
600-1200
800-1600
Color-up 100's
1000-2000
1500-3000
Color-up 500's
2000-4000
3000-6000
4000-8000

With 8-10 players, you'll end anywhere in those last three levels; most likely around 2000-4000 so play with 20 minute levels and you've got your 3 hour tourney. You can always go to 10-15 minute levels near the end if you start running late.

Oops. url, not link.

Home Poker Tourney

As for the above structures, I wouldn't use a blind-doubling structure. It devalues the early rounds too much.

Try a more gradual structure. If you want to make the tourney last longer, just increase the starting stacks or increase blind levels.

Starting Stack: 2500
Blind Levels: 20 Minutes

25-50
50-100
75-150
100-200
150-300
Color Up 25's
200-400
300-600
400-800
600-1200
800-1600
1000-2000
1200-2400
Color Up 100's
1500-3000
2000-4000
2500-5000
3000-6000
4000-8000

wow wish I could find good deep stack tourneys to play. All the players in my home games are action junkies and want LESS than 10minute blinds! If an 18 man tournament takes more than an hour they are complaining! "Double the blinds!" Dubya Tee Eff.
