I would start by figuering how what type of hedge fund it is, is it quant fund, or fundamental? If it's quant, and you want to impress your boss, then ask about how they did during Aug 13-15, and if it's good, why?

Then, try to understand their investment philosophy, from there, you should be able to ask more detail questions.
