Default South of France

I am going on holiday tomorrow for 2 weeks with my girl.

We are flying into Grenoble, hiring a car, and flying out of Marseille.

The plan is to visit some nice towns, eat in good local restaurants, and sit in cafes in pleasant squares reading our books!

I have already been to Aix, Avignon, and Cassis. This is the sort of place that we are interested in. Maybe even smaller than these.

We are not really that interested in glitzy places like Nice, Monaco, Monte Carlo.

Anyone got any good recommendations for small / medium towns?

If you have, they would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Patrick

Suggestions :

Plan your trips using
www.mappy.com
or
www.via-michelin.com
reserve your hotels or other with
www.pagesjaunes.fr (click the union jack for english version)

My girlfriends says : Nimes, Baux de Provence, Gap, salons de provence, Uzes, Saint Paul de Vence and Saint Véran are places worth visiting.
Near Toulon and Marseilles you might want to take a boat that will take you to a small Island where you can enjoy the beach.

Use google image search to have a preview using those city names, then pick your choice.

Avignon is not really a small place.
I wouldn't recommend Aix except if you're fan of Cezanne.

Cassis is a beautiful place but kinda overcrowded in the summer. Don't hesitate to take a day or two in Marseille (PM me if you want any information about the city)

You sound like interested in smaller places. Try "Les Baux de Provence" and "Le Castellet". Maybe some villages in The "Luberon" area would be a good choice for you.

If you're flying to Grenoble you'll be right in the Alps.
