trouble signing into neteller account

I'm having trouble getting real money into my pokerstars account. I first tried using my debit card directly which, as expected, did not work. Then I tried echecks, which didn't work as well.
I tried neteller and after a few days of creating the account, the account was closed because they could not verify my ID. So I called and gave them the info they needed and it turns out they needed my diver's license number as well. At that point I stopping giving info and they said I could e-mail it to certifyme@neteller.com

Do they really need this much information to verify me? Also, What are next best alternatives to putting money in my account?

I'd estimate 90%+ of the regular posters on here have Neteller accounts. I signed up 5-6 years ago so I didn't have to go through as many steps as required today but if they called me up and said they needed my drivers license I'd happily e-mail a copy of it.
