2007 Orleans Open Poker Tournament, July 14-29
Is anyone else from here planning on attending this one?
Seems reasonable in price, but I've never played before at this Casino. They are offering a special room rate for out of towners needing to stay there. Details here: http://www.orleanscasino.com/gaming/...-schedule.html |

I'll be in town during this time and plan to play a couple of events. I am a fan of The Orleans tournaments, good buy-in amounts and decent structures.
They also attrack a good number of players however, this year, the competition for players is much bigger with The Venentian, Caesers, etc. |

i played last night in their tourney...$40 buy in for 1K in chips, (1) Rebuy at $40 for 2K in chips and a $5 dealer bonus for 250
so $85 for 3,250 in chips. 177 players played....they draw more players on friday and saturdays. competition is average and the blind progression is pretty decent the value. i like it better than the sahara personally. |

Placed 11th in the Stud 8 event last year. I plan on bettering this finish and maybe playing another event or two.

Looks like small chip stacks - T2000 for a $225 buy-in. The normal Venetian tournaments look better than that.

They use $5 chips in the stud events. So the 2k includes something like 50 in red as well.

[/ QUOTE ] This is their regular tournament, not the New Orleans Open tournaments, although I agree that as lower buy-in tournaments go this is one of the best values in Vegas. It does become a bit of a crapshoot at the end, but then what doesn't. (I chopped this 5 ways a couple weeks ago - average stack at the time was 7.4bbs.) The NO Open tournaments are slower structures. I did a comparison of those events using Snyder's patience factor and found that these were much slower structures than the Venetian Deepstacks or WSOP prelim events. I wish I could be in Vegas for some of these. |
