this list is surprisingly bad, even for one voted on by radio listeners

The list gets worse, much worse...I was appalled at some of the choices, and by one major band not any where on the list - Rush. Sad, just sad.

dude rush is really ghey...Without Neil Pear this band is atrocious.

Was Rush ever considered a "rock" band? They were more like Yes or ELP and probably don't belong on this list, despite the masses who dropped acid to 2112. Rush seemed a more high-brow, intellectual rock band than their peers - probably because of Neil Peart.

I saw Peart play in a Buddy Rich Tribute Concert in NYC around 1991. Give this guy credit - he hung in there with Rich's jazz band the whole way. Marvin "Smitty" Smith stole the show easy, but Peart had a huge supporting audience. Also there was Journey's Steve Smith, who's got pretty impressive jazz chops for a "rock" drummer...

That is a much, MUCH better list. I'm not saying that list is perfect or that it reflects my personal tastes, but at least it's covered with great rock and roll songs.

Edit: I have a terrible confession to make and this seems like a good thread for it.

I just never liked Stairway to Heaven. I can sort of understand why it's so highly regarded, but I've never cared for it.

The only thing I don't like is that his solo is regarded as his "best". And casual Zep fans therefore seem to undervalue Page because they think that's his best solo, which, IMO, it probably isn't in his top 3.

The song itself is awesome, though.
