Re: Theory of Poker -- Obvious information and boring as hell to read
I thought it was pretty decent. I guess you can't make everyone happy.

Re: Theory of Poker -- Obvious information and boring as hell to read
[ QUOTE ]
I cannot beleive so many people speak of this book so highly. I read it last week and it did not present a single piece of information that isn't blatantly obvious to anyone with half a brain. Sure it might be nice at an introductory level for someone who knows absolutely nothing about poker. But other than that, what is the big fuss about? [/ QUOTE ] Hi CF, I heard Sklansky's gonna do a 21st century edition, and finally put some useful stuff in there. Maybe you can get a free copy, since you got ripped off so bad buying the useless edition. Good luck at the tables. |

[ QUOTE ] I can't stand Shakespeare because it is full of so many cliches. [/ QUOTE ] nh [/ QUOTE ] Exactly. Reminds me of the literature thread where someone said that Shakespeare is overrated and the OOT thread where someone gave Bo Derek, the star of "10", a 3.5. Most people are so full of crap that they can't see beyond the crap they are full of, and like a poor man's Midas, turn everything they touch into crap. |

I guess I am not as quick as you. For example, I can't figure out the purpose of this post.

Can you please provide some examples as to why the information presented in this book is blatantly obvious to anyone with half a brain?????

Re: Theory of Poker -- Obvious information and boring as hell to read
Its a good book so sorry CF but you are in the vast minority if you think it isnt. Trust me, if you reread a few more times and try to understand the concepts in the book (that you've apparently found obvious all your life) you too will become a winning player at $10 STTs

Try looking at the book again. This time don't read it like a novel but study it.
