Re: if you want to be angry...READ THIS POST: folded set 3bet pot-2,4N
i'm going against the grain. even before reading the description of villain i don't mind the fold...
i wouldn't actually fold this, but i like the fact that you were able to. you're beating a butchered AK or AA by UTG, or slight chance of combo draw... the only puzzling aspect is his flop check... i expect to see 99/88. the fold is made even better by the fact that BB is left to act. |

Re: if you want to be angry...READ THIS POST: folded set 3bet pot-2,4N
Man what the hell are you guys talking about? The flop gets checked through on a dry board, and then a tight, straightforward pre-flop raise/caller COLD SHOVES into two raises. Plus, the guy who 3bet PF and then min-raised the turn is left to act behind the OP.
What does UTG have given PF actions? A lot of small/medium pocket pairs, Is he going to flat call a tiny 3bet with AA , with Hero behind getting good set odds? Never. AK? Maybe occasionally. Flop, he checks through a lot of pocket pairs, and sets sometimes. He bets AK most of the time. Turn, he's forced to raise up his good hands when Hero and BB are trading small bets, in case there is a draw out (which there now are, given the turn card). He bluffs never, given Hero and BB are betting tiny on the turn. He might have gotten here with AK, but we certainly can't give the AK combos even close to full weight against the set combos in Villain's range. Hero's getting about $610 to $315 on the call, with BB to act behind, I think it's a fold. |

Re: if you want to be angry...READ THIS POST: folded set 3bet pot-2,4N
I could get on board with this fold if the turn lead was a legit size, at least 3/5ths pot. As played your hand looks like junk and the pfRRer could be minraising anything from JJ to AQ.
What did you want/expect to happen when you led for 1/3 pot? I can't imagine bet-folding was part of the plan. Your broken-wing bet got you action, now put the money in. Surf |

Re: if you want to be angry...READ THIS POST: folded set 3bet pot-2,4N
why do people use that flawed reasoning so often? preflop he didn't know UTG was going to check behind flop and then go nuts on turn after a bet and raise. his line looks ridiculously strong. not totally advocating the fold, but i'll say that much

this is not even close to not being close, and I think I like the fold but still can't decide.
