Default Equity, equity, equity !!

Heeya guys,

I been reading around a bit here and I am wondering about 1 thing. My native language isn't English and although I consider my English to be pretty good I don't understand most of the fancy words. Now I am ready some poker books (ofcourse, not in Dutch ) so I am kind of wondering about the definition of equity, I think I understand what it means but just for confirmation.

It's just some kind of fancy word for chance, right ?? I mean but pot equity I thought it resembles your pot odds, if I am totally off here, just tell me and if I am about right, also just tell me and I'd like to know the connection between the 2

Greets, Kilay

If that doesn't answer your question, please post again and we'll take another stab at an explaining.

Ty for the offer but you been very helpfull, I exactly understand the difference between pot equity and pot odds, especially wih the example on Wikipedia where somebody can have a negative pot equity while having good pot odds to justify a call on some sort of draw
