Default General AK question

Say in an $11 turbo (generally loose players), early and no reads. I hold AK late position, and 4-5 limpers. Do I just call and hope for a good flop, or just shove?

I don't like shoving. You might get called by someone with a pair and you don't need to be racing this early, also the amount of dead money in the pot is not worth going after by putting your tournament life on the line at this stage. Since I have position I would make a raise of 3XBB + 1bb for each limper.

If i get it heads up, i cbet any flop. If i get called by 2 or more then i check-fold a whiffed flop.

It's not really optimal to shove more than 20BB over limpers. Either raise a decent amount (3x +1 per limper) and hope to get it HU in position, or limp behind and see a cheap flop.

Some loose players limp/fold a lot, others limp/call a lot, so which I decide to do depends on which types they are. If I don't know, it's worth making the raise to find out for later.

If this was in the blinds instead of LP, I'm definitely completing/checking and not raising here.

In a cheap turbo, which I play as well, never shove early w/AK. Too many donks will readily call off their chips with weak hands and bust you early. No reason to risk everything so early at these levels. Getting beat by Q5 suited will just put you on tilt.

In this situation I'd raise 5BB. If you get more than one caller you'll have to play the flop, if HU stay aggressive.
