Is there any software youve installed that is common between the desktop/laptop? It is really bizarre that the same issue would be occurring on different hardware and different operating systems. Have you installed any codecs on both that you can remove? What about DVD playing software or graphic accelerators? Also, has the problem been there since day 1 or did they work then suddenly not?

I had problems with my work machine running vista.

This worked for me:

Windows - run:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Audio

DisableProtectedAudioDG

Change the 1 to a 0.

Restart computer.

Profit.

I can't get flash videos to work on Stoxpoker. Anyone have any ideas? When I click on a video, a gray screen comes up that says "This will be replaced by the player."

He is talking about editing your registry. Disclaimer: make sure you know what you're doing before editing your registry, bad things can happen.

You first need to open the run command on vista, do so by holding down the windows button and press R. The run command will appear. Then type regedit.

Follow the links by clicking the folders in this order:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Audio

DisableProtectedAudioDG

Then

Change the 1 to a 0.

Next, restart your computer. See if this works. Good luck.

Some people have the audio folder, some don't. This error doesn't have one solution so there are a number of things to try.

The DRM folder is hidden, so you have to enable viewing hidden files, step by step on CR FAQ page.

First thing I would try is this:

Copy the following text, between but not including the [COPY] and [/COPY] tags, into a blank file in Notepad. Save the file to your desktop named DisableProtectedAudioDG.reg (make sure to set "Save as type" to "All") and then double click the file on your desktop and answer yes when asked if you want to import the data to the registry:

[COPY]Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Audio]

"DisableProtectedAudioDG"=dword:00000001[/COPY]

If this doesn't do anything, we'll try other stuff. Also, check to make sure streaming works fine.

I would also do this (this is also a fix for the play button not activating on downloaded vids):

Open Windows Media Player
In the menu area at the top of the WMP window, click "Tools"
If "Tools" is not visible, right-click on the upper bar area of WMP and a menu-list will appear
In the list that appears, choose "Options"
Select the "File Types" tab
Click "Select All," located below and to the right of the list
Click "Apply" and then "OK" at the bottom of the "Options" window.

In vista,
Start menu > default programs > set default programs. There you can choose to associate all default file types to WMP.

As a side note, if you ever use regedit, don't fiddle with things you don't understand, it can go very south very fast.

Added the REG you told me about above. Something a tad bit different happens now, my vids used to freeze 13 seconds into, but now freeze at 8 seconds [img]/images/graemlins/ooo.gif[/img] . Made WMP my default for all video files. Just for the sake of explaining one more time, when I try to stream the videos they freeze up the frames from 8-13secs in yet the audio keeps streaming perfectly. When I download them and try to play them I get the screen asking for my login/pw which I enter and it goes to the screen where I need to hit the play button but an error comes up first. When I click webhelp for that I get this error code. "C00D11B1". It says it is related to an audio error and I followed the steps there without sucess.
Thanks
