Default Is Cardplayer magazine the complete tool of the industry?

Tried to read about the Absolute Poker super account controversy by searching “The voice of modern poker” Cardplayer magazine online-nothing-I did see Absolute was offering some cool promos however. How much does an add page in Cardplayer cost? I’ll bet $1000 even money that if we pooled together and bought an ad page to publicize the issue they would laugh at the idea.

you're not going to see any magazine or website that depends on poker revenue ever publish anything (outside a public forum) that paints poker in a bad light. it's like asking republicans to objectively critique the oil companies, HMO's and defense contractors.

It's not like CardPlayer exists as an important journalistic entity... it isn't the NY Times.

It exists to make money. Plain and simple.

All magazines are simply tools of the advertisers that use them.

It was the standard before the boom and because of that, has gotten a pass for a few years. It used to be distributed for free in the card rooms only. Since adding paying subscribers, I think they have to dumb it down to appease the market of the player who is subscribing instead of picking it up at the card room.
