Default Ughhh... stealing (PS $27.50 25k guaranteed)

Wondering about a difficult situation I got myself into during the $25 25k guaranteed Stars tourney. Initially 1500 runners, been at this current table for about 3 orbits. I havn't played any hands at this table yet and felt that villan was playing generally tight. He has 6k chips and I have 6.6k. Blinds at 300/150 a25. Villan in the BB, I am in CO.

If he would have folded, I would never have had this mess...

I raise with 73o to 800 and BB calls (2200).
Flop comes J83o.
BB checks. I bet 1100. BB CR to 3k. (6300)
Hero ??.

I realize that this is bad on many aspects, esp. preflop. Just trying to learn about blind battles. Any idea where I can learn a little more about this topic?

Thanks,
Andrew

No point in making a play like this..even if players to your left are incredibly tight..this is a spew as shown by flopping a pair and getting yourself attached..fold pf..

fold pre fold here... not much to analyze.

If you don't know what to do in this spot and have trouble evaluating blind play, are you sure you should be playing a $25 mtt? I'm not trying to be a d1ck here... just mho

Obv, the std play is to open-fold your SB here, but at this level, stealing is EV+ with (almost) ATC against a lot of opponents. I'm too lazy to do the math and figure out the frequency that BB has to fold either pre or on the flop to your c-bet in order for this play to be EV+. If he is the type to call a raise, then give up when he misses, then this line is still ok IMO. Without a postflop read, I would prob default to checking this flop and giving up if he bets.

? but OP refers to this situation as a mess

what mess? he has bottom pair bs kicker and villain just check raised half his stack

its an easy fold
and if raising garbage and c-betting gets you into these situations that are clear folds after the flop and you cant deal with those decisions then just fold preflop.

You raised in CO or did you raise in SB? Either way, I don't think there is anything wrong with raising in either position.. since you're trying to steal, you should group hands (this is preflop by the way) into two categories 1)hands that you will call a shove when trying to steal (AK, big pairs, etc.) and 2) hands you are folding to a shove (anything else that you're not willing to call a raise with). if the person calls, play the hand for it's value (which is nothing in this situation) and fold. I don't think cbetting is bad in this spot either, but then you just have to give it up.
