If u're not sure ur hand is good, why don't you use a blocking bet? Bet like $12 and fold to a raise.

The raise would be a minraise => bad

what hands do you beat here? You split with AJ, you lose to AK/AQ/AT which are all reasonable holdings. You beat KQ/KJ but he probably isn't calling the turn with those.

There are no draws except a gutshot which is improbable. You've fired on flop and turn for 2/3 pot and he hasn't gone away.

You are most likely beat here. Do not bet $12 and then fold to a raise. You have some showdown value, check/call unless he pushes then you can be assured of a set/2p, but hope to get to showdown as cheap as you can.

I disagree, Villian has a bad kicker many times. But i doubt he calls a 3rd bet or bets with it.

c/c a small bet here is probably the most +EV it induces bluffs from weaker holdings and probably get's to showdown cheaply against stronger holdings.

Then you answered your own question. This is a river check/fold. He isn't calling you without a better hand, and he isn't folding a worse.

Next time put villian notes in OP and not say unknown

c/c....villain would have RR AQ/AK at some point and the likelihood of villain calling with a range that you beat after you fire 3 barrels wouldn't outweigh the times you're splitting vs AJ, losing to an improved AT or passively played AQ/AK (villain's calling range is leading factor for firing 3 barrels)

BUT, villain also didn't RR pf so maybe a better line would be lead for 1/2pot and fold to raise

Why would he need to reraise on flop or turn with AK/AQ/or a set. He has position and hero is leading every street. He knows he has the best hand and isn't getting as much value from reraising until the river when villian is committed if he holds any ace/two pair.

I think villian played this well and you will see a value bet on the river that hero should not call because he beats nothing

donkbetz, how often do choose to call AQ/AK pf instead of 3-betting(if not a large %, you're playing too passively)?
