advice/reviews on vegas steakhouses
i know this has been talked about in other threads, but i'm going to vegas in a couple of days and i didn't catch any reviews on some steakhouses anywhere.
from the posts in some other threads, it seems like delmonico's is the place to check out. but has anybody been to: prime steakhouse (bellagio) blackstone's steak house (monte carlo) luxor steakhouse (one reviewer above had issues with service but liked the food. anybody else?) the steakhouse at camelot (excalibur) sir galahads pub & prime rib house (excalibur) the steakhouse at treasure island i've been to the steakhouse at circus circus and really liked it, would like to hit up some place different this time around. i'm staying at the bellagio so hopefully looking for something walking distance on the strip. any input and reviews would be greatly appreciated. thanks! |

Re: advice/reviews on vegas steakhouses
IMO, the 2 best in Vegas are THE Steak House, Circus Circus, and Hugo's Cellar, 4 Queens (The salad is divine too!).

Restaurant review is no longer pinned - you might want to search for it.
I've been to Prime - it was fantastic. I still remember the after dinner drink special - a 1967 Armanac. Spectacular. As was the ribeye and the chilled seafood appetizer. Fortunately, that bill was send to my company, not me. When it is my $ - I prefer Craftsteak at MGM followed closely by Delmonico's. I have not eaten at the others on your list. |

There is also a great "how to search" thread pinned as a sticky which the OP can use to find the many times this has been discussed before. |

How is the Smith & Wolensky or whatever lol. We'll be glad to help you try these. Also the Gold Nugget has a good one.

Re: advice/reviews on vegas steakhouses
i did look at the massive restaurant review thread. like i said the concensus there seemed to be delmonico's at the venetian, but i didn't see much mention of the places i listed. and i did a search on posts in the last 6 months with the names of the places i was looking at without much luck. i'll check the "how to search" thread, sorry if the info i was looking for has already been posted.

Very good service, awesome desserts (the chocolate cake can be split between 3 or 4 easy). Steaks were tasty and flavorful, but I would say not as good as the others. I rate 8.5/10. |

Re: advice/reviews on vegas steakhouses
I think you'll get better reviews from a non-poker-centric source.
ratelasvegas.com isn't completely trustworthy, but it does have many reviews of all of the major places. In its list of strip hotel restaurants I ran through trying to pull out just the steakhouses. From best to worst we have: Blackstone's at Monte Carlo, Luxor, Harrah's, Circus, Neros at Caesars, Mon Ami Gabi (Paris), House of Lords (Sahara), Fireside (IP), Delmonico, Camelot (Excal), Gallagher's (NYNY), AJ's (HardRock), Galahad's (Excal), Bally's, Craftsteak, Nine, Bellagio, Flamingo, SW (Wynn), Hilton, TI, Embers (IP). I probably missed a few in there. Yes, Craftsteak gets 7.47 out of 10 with 14 raters while Blackstone's gets 8.5 with 57 raters. Prime Steakhouse at Bellagio gets reviews like "Why pay this much for average food and service" with a 7.32 rating from 22 reviewiers, but Harrah's steakhouse gets 8.36 from 34 reviewers with reviews like "Great place in every respect. The prime rib was huge and the best I've tasted in many years. Superb service." YMMV. |

Re: advice/reviews on vegas steakhouses
I always am pimping Craftsteak, I really think it is better than Delmonico's. The dishes are much simpler at Craftsteak, just awesome ingrediants prepared real simply (totally unlike Delmonicos). For sides the mushrooms are awesome as well as the onions. I would just go there and skip all these hit or miss type cheaper places. You don't need to get the Kobe- the regular steaks are awesome.
Other random thoughts: Keep in mind at Prime I think you have to wear a jacket. I have heard bad things about the Excalibur steak places from people I trust. The Luxor steakhouse is surprisingly good. For you locals here's a few thoughts: I gave Fleming's another try (on west charleston) - wife got the filet, I got a blackened ribeye - both really really good. Tbones at Red Rock I am done with based on 3 meals. Overpriced and the steaks are very hit or miss. But if you like scallops they give you like a pound and a half of scallops served on a cast iron skillet for maybe $24 or so. Desserts kinda suck. I still think for locals casinos Austin's blows away the rest - the garlic cilantro sauce that you can get on the side for the ribeye is incredible and they have great slaads and desserts as well. Marc;s on Lake Mead continues to have some of the best off strip dishes out there. Great steaks, veal, and the lobster bisque is the best I ever had anywhere. This is my second favorite off-strip restaurant (behind Rosemary's) |
