Default Qs about the rechargeable battery pack for the 360

I currently use NiMH AA rechargeables for my XBox 360. But I'm disappointed in the shelf life. E.g., last week, I charged them up. I haven't turned on my 360 since then. Last night, I turn it on, and the batteries die within 5 minutes.

I know that NiMH batteries self-discharge, so, although my batteries are probably faulty (they usually last a lot longer), this will happen to all NiMH batteries sooner or later. That's what worries me about the rechargeable battery pack for the 360--they are NiMH. So one would think that the battery life would be no better than I get now out of rechargeable AAs.

So does anyone here have experience in comparing AAs to the Rechargeable Battery Pack?
