Looking to get a new 60-65"

most likely must be 1080p/i
not sure between plasma/LCD

Just kinda just starting the process, and have looked at

Uhh 1080p and 1080i are completely separate things. 1080i = 720p.

Also, if you're planning on playing video games on it, or running anything that has a static image (sports ticker, etc), you'll wanna stick with LCD as Plasmas have a tendency to burn images onto the screen. They say that most Plasmas are "fixed" nowadays so that it doesn't happen, but it still will over periods of time.

I have a 18 month old 60 inch Sony XBR 1080i (new Sony model are 1080p) and am very pleased with my purchase. The HD picture is a thing to behold. FWIW, my neighbors prefer playing cards at my house for my TV and they all have various 50 inch plus HD models.

Just set a budget and head to Circuit City and bets Buy to look at the pictures. Then do some online research and make your choice. Sony might not be the best out there (I have no idea as I haven't researched this in close to 2 years), but I can't see you being unhappy with one.

Source? Because this is completely not true. 1080i means 1080 interlaced lines across, while 720p means there are 720 lines that are progressive scanned. They are obviously not the same thing. More pixels are displayed in 1080i.

To the OP, any reason why you're set on a LCD/Plasma? A DLP rear projection or an LCD rear projection TV would be WAY cheaper and if you're not hanging the TV on the wall or standing while you're watching there is really no reason to spend that extra $$$ on a plasma IMO. I'm looking to pick up a 65" DLP rear projection after I close on my house w/ support for 1080p, even though there is very little put out in 1080p right now.

Edit because this is the first 60"+ LCD I've seen...

I have a 63" Sony sxrd with full HDTV and it is [censored] sweet. I think they're a bit over 3k.
