he's hoping you rivered your flush cuz you were drawing dead on the turn with a FD.

QFT. also full pot on turn seems pointless.

Yeah I was surprised by that myself when I looked at the hand history. I've got no defense, this was from the Sunday Second Chance, and I can't recall what (or if) I was thinking at the time.

lets recap.

from his perspective youve called a checkraise on the turn when the board paired a queen.

now the flush showed up on the river. and he sets you in. if i were him i would be praying you made a flush.

and you're planning to call this down with 88.

Turn bet isn't full pot. I would probably bet 1500 or 1444 but 1777 isn't horrible. As played fold turn. This is one of those spots where if you call turn you need to call river because his range is complex bluff or the nuts. That being said the odds of him playing the nuts like this is >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;> than him running a complex bluff.

I think he's playing air (AJ,AK,)out of position.

Really? That'd be some elaborate 3-street bluff.

He did show up with AK, though we actually checked it through on the river. I just thought it would be a pretty tough/interesting spot if he did shove the river.

Thanks for the responses.

I use the call once line a lot nowadays it seems. There are a lot of spots where you can call the turn and fold to a river barrel because although you don't know if they're bluffing on the turn, they will never ever try to bluff you on the river.

Some of the time for sure. I really wouldn't be that surprised for SuperTuan to have a flush here on the river for value given our line shouldn't have a hand better than a flush. Pretty much always bet a set on the flop, yeah, I think SuperTuan just got real cute w/ his FD and now hopes you stack off with some mid pair. Amirite?

He knows you don't have a boat or a queen b/c with the flop texture you can't check behind that huge of a hand for pot control right? That's what would legitimize his over-valuebet with a flush here. His line looks super bluffy yes but the thing is your line could definately be a flush too so he can't just shove air can he?
