Personally, I think the edge will always be larger earlier in the season for just about every sport for the edge bettor

Santana is done for this year. Don't expect 3 more starts, especially if they need to win come the last week of the season. He f'n sucks.

From Rotowire:

In a surprise move, manager Mike Scioscia will leave Santana in the rotation, the Los Angeles Times reports.

(And he's starting tonight.)

If Seattle didn't eat sac the past 2 weeks including getting swept by the Angels themselves, he wouldnt be starting. The only reasoning I can see here is that it's a last ditch effort to see if he will be of any use or even on the playoff roster.

He is auditioning for the same role he served in game 5 against the Yankees of the ALDS in 05, an emergency starter or long relief of Colon.

Of course it's very good for the bet.

FWIW, he's throwing 5 innings of one-hit ball right now. Doubt it will last, but if he keeps it up, his rotation role will be secured (and we only need 2 more starts from him anyway for this bet to be a winner).

I believe he's being moved to bullpen duty, so it should be a push.
