Default Wal-Mart

Am I the only one that doesn't think wal-mart is evil?

I have watched the documentary where wal-mart comes in and drives all the small businesses out of business.

While I dont agree with cities subsidizing walmart, I don't think walmart is evil.

As a matter of fact, I think wal-mart rules.

In a thread several months back, I nominated Sam Walton as man of the (20th) century. I'm not sure if I'd still stick with that today, I might take Henry Ford instead, but not because my opinon of Walton has dropped any.

Because of all the work Henry Ford has done recently to overtake Walton?

A wonderfully efficient "free market" Wehrmacht has devastated entrepreneurial upward mobility in small towns across America. Let's all sing a verse from Markets Uber Alles.

AHEM ... In fact Wallyworld is a perfect example of how unfair market regulation can be used to the advantage of a smart business. Its called working the system. All thanks to unwitting dupes like you who bloat the bureaucracy in the name of "equality" when what you get in the end is the worst kind of inequality

Wal-Mart is evil. They're possibly the worst culprit of convincing the government to use force in their favor. Some people defend them by saying that they're just playing the game by the rules that are there, but I don't buy that. I'm also not terribly excited about the way they treat their distributors. Personally, I don't shop there. (unless I need something at 3AM, but that's the benefit of a monopoly)

pvn, what would you say was Walton's great achievement? Is it that he saved so much money for poor people?

Dude, Wal-Mart has nothing to do with free markets. Everything about them is entwined with the government run mixed economy we have. Remove their government backing and they wouldn't have a fraction of what they have today.
