Default Complaint about ESPN bottom line

I just wanted to complain about the terrible way that ESPN puts bottom lines on the screen so often now. I don't mind it on ESPNEWS, but I hate seeing it when I'm trying to watch a game (or Sportscenter, Baseball Tonight, etc.) It looks stupid and distracts from the watching of the game (or program) that I'm trying to watch. Am I alone in hating the bottom line or does anyone else agree with me?

THe part I hate is that is spends WAY too much time on one game - giving too much information. I can't count how many times I just wanted to see a damn score while playing poker or in a bar, and you have to stare at the screen for 10 minutes until they get to your score. Irritating.

I agree on all counts. Too distracting, and, if you're watching in a bar or poker room, it takes too long to get to the score you want.

Add to that the fact that those scroll bars burn in on plasma TVs. I watch way too much ESPN, CNN and CNBC, and so have held off buying a plasma as of yet.

I actually like the scroll bar, but wish they would keep it to just baseball. =)

Heh, heh, yellowdoyle, I totally agree. If the scrollbar were nothing but baseball, I would have no complaints either. I can't wait until the NBA and NHL playoffs end. Then the real sports season starts!

I know ESPN hates it when you watch their programming for longer than you otherwise would. You could get the ESPN phone.

The real sport? No, no, the ONLY sport.

The NBA was watchable until everyone tried to become the next MJ. Since then, not so much. Lebron gives me hope, though.

The worst day of the sports year is the day that Sunday Night Baseball gets bumped to ESPN2 so that ESPN can show a second-week NFL pre-season game in prime time.

I also don't mind the scrollbar, but I really could care less about all the random statistics that they show for every game. People don't watch the scroll bar to get a breakdown of the game, they just wanna know the damn score.

I agree that the statistics are pretty annoying, I suspect that this is partly done because of the exploding popularity of fantasy sports.
