Default Se7ens vs. TAG

Villain is in like every single game I play at stars 5/10. He is 17/14/2 over several hundred hands, and seems to play pretty straightforward.

Limit: $5/$10
5 players
Converter

Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is UTG with 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
<font color="#cc0000">Hero raises</font>, CO folds, <font color="#cc0000">Button 3-bets</font>, 2 folds, Hero calls.

Flop: T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (7.4SB, 2 players)
Hero checks, <font color="#cc0000">Button bets</font>, <font color="#cc0000">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#cc0000">Button 3-bets</font>, Hero calls.

Turn: T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (6.7BB, 2 players)
Hero checks, Button checks.

River: 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (6.7BB, 2 players)
Hero checks, <font color="#cc0000">Button bets</font>, Hero calls.

Results:
Final pot: 8.7BB

If you're talking about who I think you're talking about the bottom of his range is AK; so I'd probably donk/fold the turn. As played I think C/C on the river is pretty bad; that turn check is a scared/defensive one, so I like C/F and B/F better on the end.

I'm just unsure of whether B/F or C/F is the better of the two. C/F feels very weak, but B/F seems like I'm never getting value from a worse hand.. His flop 3bet, turn check through almost looks like AKd or AQd, but when he bets on the river those hands all of the sudden become alot less likely. Ugh.

No value - WTF? AK calls 100% of the time, which is why I'd bet against most players. With this guy it's just a question of how often he has it; I don't think very often because his overpair is scared of trips, so it makes C/F a viable option. Really, C/C just blows.

Tom sez:

Bet out on the flop.

As played, bet the turn.

As played, bet the river.

Heifer says:

I like folding to the flop 3bet against a very tight/straightforward opponent. If the only worse hands you can put him on are flush draws + 2 overcards, there is no reason to continue.

I think "reading" the flop 3 bet is the key to this hand. IMO as played river is a fold against most players. Villan has no reason to believe our hero has a good hand and evry reason to believe our hero has a mediocre hand i.e. a calling hand.

I just call all the way down. I like not having to work things out.
