If you bet, I really don't understand anything other than a shove. I think you guys are all nuts.

I actually like a shove as well. I think you'll fold out enough splits or get hero called often enough to make it a higher ev play then betting 3/4 pot or so.

I have a note saying that "he has FPS."
His range is mainly medium pocket pairs lower than an eight and double floated aces.

[/ QUOTE ]

My first thought when reading this was to bet small to induce a bluff raise. Too fancy?

Ya especially on this board. He has to realize bluff raising would be suicide. Even with FPS.

Are you trying to get him to fold an 8 or call with 77?

I think his point is for any hand to call us that we are ahead of that hand must think we are bluffing, so betting $200 or $400 is the same diff. I shove.

If I'm trying to do either, I'd shove. A bet other than a shove just makes no sense in this spot at all no matter what I'm holding. At least without a specific read that says how he will react to it as opposed to a shove. Do some equity calcs. I'm pretty sure that given any reasonable assumptions that show a smaller bet to be +EV, they will show a shove to be more +EV.
