USF has a definite argument. If you switched their schedules, OSU would certainly be #1 with the WVU/Auburn/UNC wins and anyone putting USF #1 with Ohio State's schedule would be ridiculed.

This just shows a real problem with polls. The person posting the poll needs to explain his ranking criteria - is actual on-field results this season his #1 input? Does he rank LSU higher because he feels that LSU would win more "sklansky games" if the two teams played an infinite number of times? Etc, etc.

I think most AP voters just make up numbers they "think" teams should be at, then use results or theory to back those decisions on a case-by-case basis. Which is how you end up with bogus stuff like Wisconsin in the top 10 for the first six weeks of this year.
