Default Differences between Commerece\'s 200 and 400 NL

I finally ventured down to the Commerce to play some poker in California. I usually play 5/10 in Vegas but stepped down to their 2/5 $200 game as I only had two buyins for the 5/10 game available and figured there'd be some high variance.

What I found was the action was flat out ridiculous. Me pushing with aces as the 3rd raiser pre-flop only to be called by 3 other players. People getting it all at times what felt like every other hand in marginal spots.

My question is this, does the $400 5/10 game play any different or is it donktastic like the $200 game?

Welcome to SoCal poker...5/10 game is somewhat less donktastic, but not markedly so. If your BR & emotions can handle the swings, you'll do OK. Though, it's quite an adjustment.

Yeah, that's what I figured. It was an adjustment / shock to say the least. At one point I pushed preflop with K-10o knowing I was well ahead against this donk who called with K-9o and we ended up chopping the pot. Ugh. Good times.

I haven't been there in a while, but at a point last year I stayed for over a month and played the $400 every day. Every day it was action packed and I saw things that I couldn't believe. The only complaint I've had was that the max buyin is so ridiculously small which is why I play at the Bike now when I'm in town.

i cant believe the 5/10 has such a small buy in, at borgata the 2/5 is a 400 max and the 5/10 is 1500, although at times i do wish there was a middle game, like a 5/5 750 max would be perfect

Why is it that people whining about the low max buyin at juicy NL games don't understand that it's the low max buyin that makes the game juicy?

"Oh, man, I'd really like that game if they'd let me buyin more," = "Oh, man, that game sucks now that they let me buyin more."

And how exactly did you "know" you were "well ahead" there?
