#3 pick in FF draft
in a 10-team league. Two questions:
1. If this were standard scoring, I take it the consensus is that the top 3 backs are LDT, SJack, and FGore, in that order? 2. This league is rather odd in its scoring in that it greatly overvalues QB scoring. Specifically, here are the top 15 scoring players in this league from 2006: P. Manning 702 LDT 647 Brees 603 Bulger 575 SJack 554 Carson Palmer 551 LJ 535 Kitna 523 Ron Mexico 480 Brady 470 Gore 467 Favre 452 Westbrook 445 Tiki 440 P. Rivers 440 Given this scoring system, I don't have to consider taking Manning at 3, do I? If I do take Manning, doesn't this rape me in the RB department, as I'm not picking again until 18? |

I could see steve jackson as a good three pick. [/ QUOTE ] Clarification: I am assuming in this league that LDT and Steven Jackson will go 1-2. The query then is, go RB at 3 in this league or Manning? |

Re: #3 pick in FF draft
I'd like to take a big RB here, then another RB on the way back... love Brady to up his total by a lot this year... Palmer will be back also. Manning will come down by a little, I think.
All of that jibberish above means I think you should take two RBs, then a guy like Brady/Palmer/Bulger/Brees in Rd 3 |

While he could decline, his possible decline will be less than his possible upside. If that makes sense. Also in a league like this Brady/Palmer/Bulger/Brees will all be gone be the third. However, there will be a ton of valuable running backs and you could easily end up with two stud backs in the first two rounds even picking third. And you could easily end up with a stud wideout coming back in the third. Stacking your team like this and ending up with a Cutler/Leinart/Kitna in the 5th is much more profitable and adds less variance to your team. I think Manning's value in a league like this is probably the 7th or 8th pick. |

Re: #3 pick in FF draft
Just draft like you normally would. The scoring rules don't change much.

Re: #3 pick in FF draft
I don't think that league overvalues QBs much at all. Who cares if they score more as a group? The difference between the #1 QB and the #12 QB is still probably less than the difference between the #3 RB and the #24 RB. Go RB. Personally if LJ is in camp I like him. If not I like Gore, Addai, Parker, and Moroney in that order.

Re: #3 pick in FF draft
I think Maroney's better than Parker, but for the 3rd pick it isn't gonna matter. Gore will be available, and he's the right pick.
