OP is at fault.

Is this what is supposed to happen.

Friend: "What time does the flight leave.

OP: "9:30"

Friend: "I don't believe you, let me see the itinerary."

What actually happened:

Friend: "I like tacos"

OP: "Oops, we're late for our flight"

Friend: "What flight?"

OP is neither a travel agent, nor these people's mother. I think if you have a plane ticket somewhere you should know what time it is. OP did screw up however, and if I did something like this I would feel bad and offer something to my friends based on the cost of rebooking.
The financial standing of the people involved shouldn't be a factor, but I'd probably be inclined to chip in more if I was much better off than my friends.

EDIT: So I didn't really weigh in on OP's question. If the cost was over $100 each I'd probably chip in $100-$150 over my cost. If it was less than $50 each I'd probably offer to take them out to dinner or something.

Did everyone already have their ticket or some way of checking what time the flight left themself? If not then I'd say you're paying it all.

obviously i did screw up and no conversation ever goes like nick b suggested great insight though really was. however no one made an attempt to double check the time. i did offer to pay extra for the other three quite similar to what badger suggested. i did everything i could to resolve the situation promptly at the airport.

however if i knew that at least one of my friends (not really a friend , girlfriends roommate) did not want to pay i would have just flew to phoenix alone and borrowed my friends car and drove the four hours to pick em up, or let them fend for themselves. i just dont operate like that though.

if you are in a car accident no one is ever 100% at fault. therefore i dont feel i should have to pay it all, and was wondering on the % i should. i thought 40% 20% 20% 20% was a fair offer. the financial situation of the four of us - i make 2nd most of the four.

I'm sorry to say this, but I think that you are responsible for 100% of it, however, your friends should offer to pay their share, since:
a) it is the right thing to do
b) you were somehow goaded into doing the planning.

Advice for next time:
Forward your confirmations/screenshot of confirmation screen to the other people. This allows you to dodge pretty much all responsibility

Me nitpicking, totally off topic:

it should absolutely be split evenly.

i [censored] hate it when people dont help make the plans and then get mad if something gets [censored] up. you took responisibility and made a mistake. it happens. they should be thanking you for makign the plans and gladly paying their own shares for the new flights.

Why are you catering to the stupid bitch? what you should have said is, "oh man, I misread the time, we missed our flight, I guess we have to get new tickets" and then let everyon pay for themselves, if anyone bitches, you tell them that next time they plan the [censored] trip.

i wasnt catering to her however as all guys know if you treat a girlfriends roommate like [censored] their heads start wandering and i dont really want to break up with my girlfriend over this as she has already offered to pay her roommates share if she doesnt. that is not the post or concern though. to answer the question about reading a book, u r partly liable in the insurance companies eyes for being in that spot at that time. why werent u reading at home why didnt u park in a different spot, etc. u r only like 1% liable but that is how they work. therefore i posted this to get different opinions on percentages
