Default trips OOP, middle stages of 5r at FTP

Sorry about no hand history, I am at work.

Tournament was the 4.5k guarantee on FTP 5r. which is a 6max event.

I believe the average stack was 20k and I had around 17k with the blinds at 400/800 and 150(?) ante.

I just sat down at the table maybe got around one orbit and have no reads.

Basically this hand pops up with maybe 90 some people left, any advice would be appreciated.

Folds around to me in SB with 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] i raise to 2250 (standard? or should i raise more) his stack was around 19k. He calls.

pot: 5400

flop: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I bet 4450; he calls after tanking till time was out.

turn: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

My questions is here; this is the worst card i could see besides 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]; the pot is around 14.3k and i have 11.3k left and he has me covered by 1k.

Is there a line that can keep you from going broke if he has a flush or straight? Any other comments about my play in general. Thanks

His calling range PF (assuming he isnt a maniac) shouldnt contain anything that beats you but a flush, IMO its more likely you are facing a hand like TT or AK-AQ with a diamond draw, it bet this strong to put him off his draw, if he already has a flush there isnt much you can do about it but catch your 10 outs to the river

No. 2400-3000 PF is good. 3/4 to full pot-sized bet on the flop, and that commits you. Pot would be around 16-17K with you at around 8-9K. But even though you kept it smaller, doesn't change your situation. You can't check, or bet small on the turn and fold to a raise. Shove it in on the turn.

I would push this, if he has the flush, you still have a redraw for quads or a full house. ALot of times hes flatting on the flop with a 6 or a pair. You are ahead here often imo

I agree, I am always shoving this on turn.

Just want to point out that he can't have a strait. No way he would use up all his time on the flop with the strait and the 9 doesn't make any straits.
