Multiple Desktops
I work and use a laptop constantly running with a quick internet connection..
I have been considering using this laptop to datamine some hands from UB... My idea what to have something simliar to the desktops for linux (ubuntu/redhat all have it) where I could open all the tables on the one desktop and switch away from it... Is there something similiar for XP? (I have tried using the power toys version, it installs fine but when I right click the start bar like it says I get no options to manage desktops).. Any suggestions? |

Re: Multiple Desktops
Could you use AHK or something else to make them 100% transparent?

Re: Multiple Desktops
_dave_ tbh its not so much that they are there
I have hooked up a second monitor and dragged them over there. Issue is they steal focus making typing something very difficult |

Re: Multiple Desktops
get my KeyboardRedirect script from overcards.com - it will prevent *anything* that steals focus from interrupting typing
It may take a little getting used to, but it makes MS Windows behave much more like a certain window managers for X Windows, i.e. text goes to pointed-at window, rather than the one which has focus. It cheats to do this, so it isn't perfect - it just queues keystrokes, checks if window under mouse is focuses, if not, focuses it before sending on the keypress. |
