2/4 raise is correct?
6max 2/4NL. Probably standard, but wanted to check things as I'm a bit rusty.
Other guy in this hand is playing very solid poker, he's a little tight at around 17/15/8 - his high AF is a due to his very aggressive betting. When he's in a hand he's always forcing his opponent to make decisions. He seems a good thinking player and I think he's made some nice flop raises to take pots from people who raised pre-flop. The hand; SB ($210.26 in chips) Hero ($354.50 in chips) UTG ($640.85 in chips) UTG+1 ($229.60 in chips) CO ($394.00 in chips) Btn ($404.70 in chips) Dealt to Hero A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 raises to $8, CO calls, Btn folds, SB folds, Hero raises to $30, UTG+1 folds, CO calls. Flop: 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Hero bets $36.00, CO raises to $144.00, Hero raises to $250.00. I briefly considered flat calling his raise but figured he was good enough to put me on a hand here. He's raised a few people on flops in very similar manner but the way he's played he could easily have a K or a PP. |

Re: 2/4 raise is correct?
if his range is K or pp then I'd just call and either cr AI or call turn shove river

Re: 2/4 raise is correct?
I think calling is probably best since you don't really want to fold out a worse K and a set obv isn't going anywhere anyway. His raise is pretty big and looks pot committing though, looks more like a combo draw than a set in general.
Also I like a bigger raise preflop OOP vs a min raiser and a caller. Raise to $40ish |

His agressive betting has ensured he doesn't showdown much. You don't think getting more in on the flop is better? A spade will probably kill our action, and perhaps other cards too. |

Re: 2/4 raise is correct?
if you were deeper i would like a call
as it is, stack sizes will commit him with a draw, he's unlikely to be able to fold any real hand, and he's unlikely to continue bluffing, so you should just stick it in |

Re: 2/4 raise is correct?
i mean sticking it in is fine too in this spot. if he had made a smaller raise or you had position i think a call would be best for sure. i think you could basically just flip a coin to make your decision here as both are fine. i just don't want to push him out when he is pushing air or doing something stupid. he prob isn't doing that too much so both are fine.

Re: 2/4 raise is correct?
Yeah if this is hardest decision I had to make in a session, I'd look up to the sky and wink my new found god.
Anyway, I favour a push, scare cards and committment etc. |
