Default 2/4 NLO8 Hand - Playing top sets....

Dont take this as a BBV post but just wanted to talk about how most play sets or how they feel about calling raises with big pair hands for set spiking value along with some other draws - Im not sure if the value is really there to be doing this although from Poker Tracker im ahead with KKxx, QQxx, JJxx style stuff... still makes me wonder

I dont particularly love my play here on the first hand, shouldnt be calling out of position like this to do this, if I was in position, I dont mind it as much, also heads up is pretty dumb, should really only be trying to spike in 3-4 ++ way pots to get true value

Second one I think is fine and prolly more BBV but just wanted to throw a second one in here for discussion

Default first hand

The Station - I haven't read the results and I don't plan on reading the results. My guess is you probably split.

I don't like your starting hand for a tight, aggressive game, which this one seems to be (but only on the basis of this one hand, so that maybe it isn't). You have not low, and there are not very many flops you're going to like.

I do like your starting hand for a loose game. You're not likely to hit a favorable flop, and if you do, you want as many paying customers as possible. Three players see the flop after a ball busting raise. Not what you want for this hand.

And you're not getting favorable odds to play. You'll usually miss and if the flop does fit perfectly, you'll have trouble collecting.

But then you catch a reasonable (but not great) fit with the flop. You bet to protect your hand and hopefully to take the pot. Fine. Didn't work, but seems a reasonable approach.

Default Hand #2

The Station - The second starting hand you posted is worse than the first. This time I'd fold to the raise before the flop.

I see that you caught a king on the flop and that you again went all-in. Once you catch the king, everything is different, you become the favorite and should bet to protect your hand. I don't know if you won or lost, and I'm not going to look. I wouldn't have been in the hand since the raise before the flop.
