yea this is pretty retarded. i could come up with a laundry list of reasons why they're morons.

At first I was going to give them some credit, assuming the servers were just overloaded. But no. It's absurd they didn't even bother testing beforehand that the download from Crack Down would work. So much for hopes that Halo 3 might be a tad less buggy. Stupidly blatant bugs and Bungie just seem to go together.
